We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer with highly developed VoIP skills. A Successful individual, in this role will have a strong background in Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies and Voice over IP, in an ISP Telecom environment. Individuals must work well and communicate effectively with others, be self-starting, creative, and able to think through a project from start to finish. Engineers have a great deal of autonomy and are expected to be able to manage their time effectively. This position requires an individual who is able to work successfully in a virtual environment, does not require direct supervision, and has experience with a 24x7x365 environment. Candidates should be able to work with a remote team, and to take constructive feedback and input from other engineers.
This is a full time, salaried position with no shift schedule. The selected candidate will be available during office hours and participate in a regular on call rotation and is expected to be available during non-business hours and holidays as needed. Infrequent travel may be required.
Practical Experience
? In depth knowledge in Broadsoft, Sonus, FreeSwitch, Kamailio, Asterisk, WireShark, Windows OS, Linux Os, Sun OS, Polycom in a Telecom environment.
? Production experience with Cisco -- routers, switches and firewall, Juniper -- routers, switches and firewalls, Edgewater, Adtran, QOS, OSPF, and BGP.
Role and Responsibilities
? Configure, manage, monitor, and maintain a 24x7 voice and data networks across multiple POP locations.
? Troubleshooting of systemic networking and VoIP issues to identify root cause and resolutions for network wide or vendor specific issues.
? Perform scheduled and emergency IOS, OS and software level upgrades, Bug Fixes and maintenance
? Research, document and certify CPE such as; PBXs, softphones, VoIP phones, Routers and firewalls for interoperability with our Sonus and Broadsoft environment
? Project management of major upgrades and new implantation of application software and POP locations.
? Vendor management
? Mentor, train and assist junior staff members
Skill Requirements
? 5+ years experience of routing and switching
? Practical experience with Telcos and broadband
? 5+ years experience with VoIP including VoIP implementation experience
? Excellent written and verbal skills
? Ability to use test tools to diagnose and resolve routing, call quality and capacity issues
? Skilled multi-tasker
? Technical documentation experience
