Job Description (full-time, permanent):

1. Prepare all Court documents from beginning to end for probate, conservatorship, trust and guardianship matters, both administration and litigation.
2. Assist with all aspects of estate, trust and conservatorship administration, including Court Accountings, and prepare all documents needed, including allocation of assets to sub-trusts, and trust funding documents.
3. Review, organize and analyze records of decedents, trustees, conservatees and guardians.
4. Review Court's Probate Notes and draft supplements to clear notes; prepare files and documents for court hearings, trials and meetings.
5. Prepare order, notices, declarations, ex parte applications, and motions.
6. Maintain and manage calendars for court hearings, litigation deadlines, and deadlines in estate, trust, conservatorship and guardianship administration.
7. Prepare letters to, and speak with, clients, banks, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, doctors, hospitals and nursing homes and interested parties, regarding aspects of administration.
8. Enter time in billing software.
9. Helpful: Conduct limited legal research (e.g., local Court rules, CRC, contests, creditor claims, fiduciary duties, etc.) on computer research and in treatises.
10. Helpful: Review, summarize and be familiar with estate planning documents such as pour-over wills, inter vivos and testamentary trusts, durable powers of attorney, advanced health care directives, Form 709, gift deeds, etc.
11. Helpful: Familiar with Form 706, and gather assets and debt information and obtain accurate valuations needed to prepare Form 706.

Requirements:

A. Paralegal Certificate from ABA accredited program or willing to qualify under Bus. & Prof. 6450.
B. Minimum 2 years recent experience as a probate/trust paralegal or legal secretary.
C. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
D. Detail-oriented self-starter with excellent organizational and computer/technology skills.
E. Committed to client service; patience and great demeanor.
F. Excellent written, verbal and proofreading skills.
G. Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Google and internet research.
