Location: Angelina Preschool
Hours: Full-time with Benefits

Background on Organization:
The Little Tokyo Service Center Community Development Corporation (LTSC CDC) is a fast-paced nonprofit organization with over 140 employees. We have been helping people and building community for over 30 years providing service to over 10,000 people each year. LTSC CDC carries out a wide range of programs including social services, childcare, economic development, property management and building affordable housing.

About Angelina Preschool:
Angelina Preschool, part of the LTSC Child Development program, is a Head Start/State Preschool serving approximately 60 children in a full-day, year round, center-based program in Echo Park.

Summary of Duties:
The Associate Teacher serves as assistant teacher at Angelina Preschool. The Associate Teacher will report to the Lead Teacher.
? Assists with the supervision of teacher aides and classroom volunteers
? Create and implement lesson plans using High-Scope curriculum
? Communicate positively with parents regarding their children
? Ensure that children are safe at all times
? Conduct DRDP-PS and other assessments of children in preschool program
? Responsible for Head Start paperwork such as parent volunteer logs, observations, etc.
? Participate in staff meetings and trainings

Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates for the position should have the following qualifications:
? A minimum of 12 units of Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development is required.
? A Child Development Associate Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, OR a current credential issued by the Commission of Teacher Credentialing authorizing teaching service in elementary school; OR, a single subject credential in home economics; OR 12-24 units of Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development; OR two years experience in early childhood education or a child care and development program.
? High School diploma or equivalent.
? Currently working towards Teacher permit and AA or BA degree.
? Past experience working with Head Start programs is preferred.
? Ability to work in a multi-ethnic, fast-paced environment.
? Pediatric/children's CPR/First Aid is preferred.
? Must pass fingerprint clearance, TB test and physical.

Knowledge and Skills:
? Understanding of child growth and development, particularly among preschool age children
? Ability to model and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and co-workers
? General knowledge of nutrition, health and first aid
? Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to safely lift or carry up to 35 pounds. Bending, kneeling and stooping required.

Any other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher and Site Supervisor/Director. LTSC is an equal opportunity employer.
