Our office in Los Angeles has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our newest signature fundraising campaign at the American Diabetes Association (ADA). This position will be responsible for recruiting participants for the Tour de Cure Women’s Series with a specific emphasis on recruitment and management of new participants and engagement of women’s specific groups, clubs and organizations.

This position will also support our signature Southern California Tour de Cure – The Long Beach Tour de Cure.

The appropriate candidate will be a self-motivated, high-energy person with demonstrated experience in special events with a track record in recruiting event participants while generating significant financial support for events both with sponsorship and participant fundraising. The position will also be responsible for developing and leading fund-raising and recruitment committees for the women’s Series Tour de Cure to ensure that volunteers are also assisting in the recruitment and cultivation of participants and fundraising goals of the event are met.

Successful candidate is results-oriented with solid experience working with and through groups to achieve desired outcome in a non-profit setting. Cold-call sales experience, strong sales persuasiveness and customer relationship building experiences are a must. Strong presentation skills, oral and written are required. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings, and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes. Must pay close attention to details, be able to manage multiple activities, and describe ADA's vision of successful events to volunteers and groups. Ability to lead, train, and coach staff and volunteers.

Sales experience and public speaking experience is essential. Knowledge of cycling and women leadership groups in the area is desired. Experience with planning or managing large scale outdoor events is desired. This exciting work opportunity is a temporary position based out of our Los Angeles office but will work with launching the event in the greater southern California area.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree
* 2+ years of demonstrated success in leadership by way of recruiting, managing and coaching participants of a special event.
* 2+ years of successful fundraising experience with demonstrated year-over-year increases
* Demonstrated success in recruiting and/or managing multiple sponsorships or teams over $10,000+
* Expert level proficiency with MS Office
* Access to a car is a must as travel is required
* Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends
* Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
