ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Develop and write competitive grant proposals to federal and state agencies that result in additional funding for the agency;
? Acquire, use, and maintain knowledge and understanding of agency faculty and staff areas of expertise for the successful attainment of additional funding;
? Gather information, through interviews and other means, that will provide an understanding of the specifics of the project or program for which funding is sought;
? Identify and distribute appropriate funding opportunities to agency management;
? Research, identify, and maintain information about key contacts at federal and state sponsors that match agency program goals and objectives;
? Develop, coordinate, and deliver grant writing workshops for management;
? Review, edit and provide input on proposals written by management;
? Develop and maintain contacts with federal funding sponsors and become a liaison with sponsors;
? Work with agency management and staff to assist in the establishment of strategies to increase extramural research funding;
? Manage the process of supplying progress reports when required by a grant-making organization that has funded a project or program.
? Track statistics relevant to development;
? Provide development input for all written agency marketing materials
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor's Degree;
? Minimum of five years of experience that includes demonstrated successful grant writing experience for foundations, federal and state agencies, resulting in substantial funding;
? Excellent demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal skills including copy-writing and editing;
? Must be PC literate especially in using software such as Word, Excel and Access database in a Windows environment;
? Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision;
? Ability to operate computers and utilize applicable software packages (Microsoft Word preferred);
? Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit and a strong communicator and team player;
? Must be able to travel when needed;
? Experience with nonprofits a plus.
