HISTORY and MISSION
The Youth Policy Institute (YPI) provides education, training and technology services to lift low-income families out of poverty. Since 2001, YPI has accomplished this by serving families in Los Angeles at 95 sites throughout the city. YPI has an annual budget of $34 million (including affiliated charter schools) and offers families education and training resources in the areas of afterschool, job training, early childhood education, physical education, adult literacy and ESL, computer literacy, charter schools, and college preparation. YPI also supports efforts to boost the capacity and effectiveness of small grassroots nonprofits that provide essential services for youth. Each year, YPI helps more than 30,000 youth and adults each year through these programs.

SUMMARY
Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is seeking a part-time Attendance Project and Data Specialist for its Youth Services department. The Attendance Project and Data Specialist will be responsible for collecting attendance for our after school programs, reviewing attendance and submitting monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports to the state, federal, and school district. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

? Work with Site Coordinators and Regional Supervisors to oversee data collection for
attendance, state and federal grant evaluation reports
? Input and submit state and federal grant evaluation reports
? Act as the primary contact for state and federal grant reports
? Review grant attendance requirements to insure that the after school programs are in
compliance
? Review site attendance input on a weekly basis
? Review site monthly attendance submissions
? Collect attendance numbers on a monthly basis and create attendance summary reports for
site coordinators, regional supervisors, and directors
? Submit monthly and quarterly attendance reports for YPI's district schools to Beyond the Bell
? Produce monthly attendance summary reports to regional supervisors and site coordinators
? Work with school administrators to collect student assessment data
? Provide site coordinators with technical assistance and support
? Work with outside evaluator in preparations for annual report
? Conduct student, parent, staff, and administration satisfaction survey
? Assist with student recruitment at various school sites
? Attend data management meetings and trainings
? Work with site coordinator to implement attendance outreach in an effort to increase daily
attendance

QUALIFICATIONS

? One year experience working with 21st and ASES grant
? Afterschool experience
? Minimum of 2 years experience in data base management such as ETO and/or EL reports
? Must possess outstanding organization and planning skills, detail-oriented; possess excellent problem-solving skills
? Must be deadline oriented with the ability to multitask and handle various projects and responsibilities
? Must be comfortable with numbers and have excellent analytical and organizational skills
? Excellent interpersonal, writing and oral communication skills
? Ability to supervise and work in a team atmosphere
? Ability to operate with minimum supervision in a fast paced environment
? Advance computer skills in MS Office, Excel, and solid knowledge of data base management
? Ability to work with varied populations, such as school administrators and district personnel
? Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between sites as needed. If applicable, will be required to provide proof of liability auto insurance and present proof of acceptable driving record (current H6 printout).
? Ability to work flexible hours

COMPENSATION
$12.00-16.00 per hour, commensurate with experience

SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, some weekends and evenings required
