Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
? Supervising and coordinating the day-to-day operations at the Financial Aid office at the Los Angeles campus; including the monitoring of workflow and productivity, reviewing of student files and aid packages, etc.
? Counseling students and their families on their financial aid options
? Reviewing financial aid applications and determining the necessary data/or data revisions to the Financial Aid management file
? Packaging student financial aid awards according to federal, state and institutional guidelines
? Administering Cal grant, LA based campus employment and institutional scholarship programs
? Monitoring the status of financial aid applications and the accuracy of awards
? Monitoring satisfactory academic progress/financial aid probation
? Completing required verification for students who have been selected by the Department of Education
? Initiating the professional judgment process for eligible students
? Counseling students regarding their loan payment options
? Reviewing and evaluating required documentation and packaging awards in accordance with established guidelines; interpreting and applying federal, state and institutional regulations to determine and certify student eligibility
? Providing support for institutional reporting needs and help develop database queries
? Assisting the Bursar's Office with maintenance of student accounts by resolving financial aid inaccuracies
? Working with the Director of Student Financial Services to schedule financial aid processes
? Assisting with the recruitment of any new staff; training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of assigned staff; providing technical direction and guidance; helping counsel staff as needed
Successful candidates will have:
? Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree a plus
? 7 or more years experience in financial aid, with at least 5 years of experience as a Director at either a private or public institution
? 4 years of experience working with and processing federal grant, federal loan and Cal grant programs
? Strong supervisory experience with an understanding of how to maximize the strengths of staff members and helping individuals deliver first class customer service
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
? Ability to handle shifting priorities
? Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
? Experience with PowerFAIDS and/or PowerCAMPUS a big plus
