HEAD PREPARATOR/CRATE BUILDER

ACE GALLERY, an internationally recognized art gallery specializing in art form the 1960's to the present, seeks a highly qualified professional with museum experience to assume the position of Head Preparator/Crate Builder. This position will be responsible for:
o Directing and assisting the gallery's preparator staff in installations and deinstallations
o Will aid in handling, crating (including building crates), packing, and transportation of artwork to and from the galleries in the gallery truck
o Work with temporary crew members for installation
o Assist artists with site-specific installation
o Assistance with various aspects of gallery operations as required by Director and Head of Building Operations
o Help to maintain Ace Gallery's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment with a common sense approach to safety and illness prevention

Required Skills:
o A minimum of 5 years of preparator experience at a gallery, museum, or art handling company required
o Proficiency in crate and travel frame construction is a must
o Must be experienced and conscientious about handling artwork of a variety of media
o Undergraduate degree in the arts required (Preferably MFA)
o Proficient in Mac computer programs
o Professional appearance and demeanor
o Strong organizational and delegating skills are a must
o Must have vehicle and current diver's License
o Must live within a seven mile radius of the Miracle Mile district of Wilsire Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Salary commensurate with experience.
