*A pool of eligible outside candidates for vacancies occurring within the next 12 months will be established to fill this position.
The incumbents selected for this position will be under general supervision performing skilled preventive maintenance, repair and modification to elevators, escalators and related equipment in a wide variety of District facilities.
Diagnostic test equipment and precision measuring devices will be used in the course of the work; performing basic welding as required to complete repairs; reading and interpreting diagrams, engineering drawings, manuals, schematics and work orders; and measuring, testing and inspecting completed work to confirm adherence to specifications.
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a High School Diploma, GED or a recognized equivalent and completion of a formal apprenticeship in elevator or escalator repair and one year of full-time equivalent verifiable journey level experience in the maintenance or repair of elevators and escalators and related equipment.
