The Clinical Pediatric Psychologist/Neuropsychologist in the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center of the Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases provides evidence-based psychological interventions and crisis intervention for center patients with disorders of the blood clotting system including hemophilia, other bleeding disorders and thrombotic disorders. The Pediatric Psychologist/Neuropsychologist will also perform Psychodiagnostic, Psycho-Educational, and Neuropsychological evaluations and provide assistance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans. Research on psychosocial aspects and neuropsychological functioning of coagulation disorders will comprise a small portion of this largely clinical position. The Center for Cancer & Blood Diseases at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is one of the premier pediatric cancer and blood programs in the country, providing services to children and teens with cancer and blood disorders, and their families.

We are one of the pediatric components of the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine and international leaders in research and training. The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center, directed by Guy Young, MD, provides comprehensive medical and psychosocial services for children, adolescents and adults with hemophilia. The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center is one of the largest such centers in the world and cares for over 1000 patients. The psychologist will be part of a multidisciplinary team comprised of physicians, nurses, social workers, and physical therapists. The HOPE Program, Co-Directed by Ernest R. Katz, PhD and Kathy Ruccione, RN, provides a wide range of integrated psychosocial services to the Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. The HOPE Program faculty will provide mentorship to the Pediatric Psychologist/Neuropsychologist, who will attend faculty and program development meetings.

REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed with the California Board of Psychology. PhD or PsyD degree from an APA-approved program is required, along with completion of a pediatric psychology predoctoral internship and a two year pediatric psychology postdoctoral fellowship in a pediatric hospital setting. Internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship experience should include significant training with a neuropsychologist. Experience with pediatric hemophilia population preferred.

Skills: Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
