Vehicle Data Collection Tech Needed
Position available Part-Time, for a responsible person capable of working diligently with limited supervision. Hours needed are M-F (however many days/hours you can do), daylight hours only (to accommodate photo taking). The Part Time opening now is for about three days a week, and can grow to more.
We are DiamondLot, an automotive industry service company based in Irvine, which contracts with Automotive Dealers in the OC / LA / Riverside/San Diego areas for online management of their vehicle inventory. We're growing to the point where we need to add another Part-Time Field Tech, (potentially transitioning to Full-Time down the road as our company grows). The area we are looking to cover right now is for someone in the SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, but other opportunities in other counties will arise. As we grow, so can you.
THIS IS WHAT WE DO:
We make REGULAR scheduled visits to our contracted automotive dealers, usually two to three times per week, to collect certain data on the vehicles on their lot and shoot several high quality digital photos of each of those vehicles. The data gets entered into a PDA that describes the vehicle's options and equipment. We print window stickers and buyers guide marketing materials for each car, then move on to the next vehicle and repeat the process. At the end of our processing day, we upload the data and the photos to our company's server for nightly feed to the Dealer website and other Sales Lead generating sites such as AutoTrader.com, Cars.com, etc. Each Field Tech has certain dealers they are responsible for, and goes to those dealers on certain scheduled days each week.
HERE'S WHAT WE NEED:
- A HIGHLY dependable person with a good work ethic and time management skills.
- An eye for shooting a good photo and a strong penchant for detail.
- Be TRAINABLE - paid training is provided from day one.
- Have the initiative, ability and self-discipline to work unsupervised much of the time.
- Have a HIGHLY dependable vehicle with full insurance coverage, for which you'll be reimbursed for business mileage.
- A decent computer (a PC please, Mac will NOT work) with minimum 256k and a High- Speed internet connection for data transfer. It will hardly take any space at all on your Hard Drive.
- The personal flexibility to work pre-scheduled days and times according to our dealers' needs. Once scheduled, it rarely changes.
- Have basic computer/technical skills. You don't need to be a Tech-Wiz or a Professional Photographer.
- Exhibit pro-active problem solving skills.
- Demonstrate an enthusiastic, customer-focused personality.
- Vehicle knowledge a plus (vehicle options/features).
- Prior automotive/car dealership experience a plus!!
- You will be working outside and will be active.
- Knowledge driving stick shift Necessary.
- Last, but not least ... please have a PRESENTABLE appearance!
The successful candidate MUST bring a valid driver's license and have a good driving history. You also must carry Vehicle Collision Insurance on your vehicle. Route service experience is not necessary, but it is a plus.

- Per-Vehicle Commission Plan after paid training -- you are in control of how much you make. Commission averages $3-$5 per car, depending upon what is done.
- The opportunity to grow with us. Right now, the dealerships we have allow our Part-Time Field Tech to average $600-$1200/month, depending on how many dealers they are able to take on. This can be expanded if the Field Tech wants to do more.
