Small busy special education law firm is looking to fill a position for a paralegal/legal assistant in our Torrance office. Position is 40 hours/week and pays $15-$20/hour depending on experience. Experienced paralegals preferred, although students and interns are welcome to apply if able to commit to at least 15 hours/week.

Applicant MUST:
- have an interest in special education;
- be proficient and fast on a computer (Word, legal case management software);
- be detail-oriented and hard-working;
- be energetic, positive, and eager to learn; and
- ideally have a paralegal certificate from ABA-approved school or be in the process of obtaining one.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting and revising correspondence, legal documents, pleadings, motions, discovery, and supporting documentation under attorney supervision;
- Calendaring hearing dates and other important deadlines;
- Conduct legal research;
- Multi-tasking while still meeting strict deadlines;
- Preparing attorney for court appearances including updating case file, preparing hearing binders, and preparing exhibits;
- Assisting attorney in preparation of legal briefs and memorandums of points and authorities;
- Filing and e-filing; and
- Heavy communication with clients dealing with sensitive issues.
