Access Center RN will be responsible for managing all aspects of incoming direct admit and patient transfer requests at a 24-hour operating Access Center. Acts as primary liaison for referring entities (e.g. physicians, hospitals, other care providers) seeking to refer, schedule and/or transfer patients into Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Provides excellent customer service while formulating an accurate assessment of potential patient admissions, facilitating rapid connection to accepting physicians, and assisting in medical transport coordination and management. Ensures that pre-admission processes are completed and demonstrates initiative, problem solving, and sound decision making as needed. Works closely with bed control, House Supervisors, nursing, physicians, medical transport, admitting, and other professionals to achieve optimal placement outcomes.

Qualifications: Bachelors of Nursing, CA RN license, AHA CPR card. 3 years of nursing, preferably in an ED or Critical Care environment. Must be able to type 50 WPM, Knowledge and proficiency of word processing, spreadsheet and data base computer applications and be proficient with information systems

Skills Required: High organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Possesses excellent customer service standards and a customer-friendly voice. Able to critically think and multi-task effectively, sometimes in a high stress situation. Understands procedures for admission, including non-clinical and financial clearance aspects.
