No previous experience with bees or pest control is required (although if you have experience that is fine too.)
This is a seasonal position expected to end in late October. You will have the opportunity to be hired again next March.
Job Description: You will be driving to anywhere from 1 to 8 job sites in a day. At the job sites you will be dealing with bee colonies mostly in structures and trees. Sometimes you will remove the bees alive, sometimes you will exterminate the bees. The job also involves removing the honeycomb the bees have made and cleaning out the part of the structure the hive was in. Repairing the structure after removing the hive is sometimes involved, which is why construction experience is preferred. Sometimes when you get to a job site the job will already be sold, meaning that a price has already been agreed upon, but sometimes you will have to sell the job.
Pay/Schedule: The amount of hours you work per week will vary based on the total number of jobs the company has to complete. One week you might work 45 hours, the next week you might work 15 hours. The compensation is commission only, NO salary or hourly pay, however it will average out to about $20 an hour.
Training: Training will last 1 week. Training will mostly be done out in the field getting hands on experience. There will be a small amount of reading to do. Pay during training is $8 per hour.
Job Requirements:
Must be available to start immediately.
Must live in southern California.
Must have a reliable truck (or work van), and it is a plus if it has a ladder rack and tool box already.
Must be ready to follow instructions and do jobs in the way that is taught during training.
Must be okay with getting dirty and performing exhausting and sometimes unpleasant labor. Picture yourself in the heat, scraping honey and wax out of a roof cavity for a few hours, while the bees are trying to sting you.
Construction experience is preferred: Ability to repair stucco, drywall, shingle roofs, tile roofs and siding is a big plus. Any other skills like the ability to repair masonry or plaster are a plus.
Must be okay to drive a lot.
Must not be allergic to bees or afraid of bees or working from heights.
Must be ready to work hard in the heat.
Must speak english.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Must be at least 20 years of age.
A good set of tools including power tools is a plus.
