JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a full time Bilingual (Mandarin/English) Managing Editor for our four quarterly print products as well as our digital identity. This position has responsibility for the overall quality of published material, and for the supervision and direction of the activities of the writers. They will work directly along side the VP of Products, Publisher and Managing Directors to coordinate publication efforts through the editing, writing and producing of all print and digital materials. You will be able to work from home with check-ins via Skype as well as occasional meetings at our offices in Hawaii and New York.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees and coordinates the publication process including communicating with editors, authors and indexers;

Trafficking and inspecting proofs for accuracy;

Manages and supervises subordinate staff;

Serves as a liaison between the department or unit and authors, printers, and/or publishers;

Assists in the preparation and management of the budget;

May prepare marketing and promotional materials for forthcoming publications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field and two years of experience in editing, journalism, or editorial research OR six years of progressively responsible experience in editing, journalism or editorial research.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Flawless understanding of Both Mandarin and English Language;

Extensive knowledge of various press styles;

People, organizational and managerial skills;

Command of grammar, spelling, history and current affairs in China;

Working knowledge of magazine publishing;

Working knowledge of Web-based research tools;

Knowledge of management principles and practices;
