Commercial Controller (El Segundo)

More infoAs a Controller for a rapidly growing commercial bank, you will advise management and assist the Senior Controller in supervising accounting and reporting activities. You will maintain accounting procedures and prepare financial reports including the firm's SEC (10-Q, 10-K), regulatory ("Call Reports") and other financial reports, covering the internal auditing, general accounting, cost accounting, budgeting and asset/liability management areas.

Other responsibilities for this position will include:
? Responsible for companies SOP 03-3 accounting and reporting
? Ensure financial statements comply with GAAP and regulatory guidelines
? Monthly, quarterly, and annual preparation of financial statements
? Accurate and timely preparation of public filings
? Provide subject matter expertise in commercial banking reporting
? Evaluate and consult on financial matters through the analysis of forecast data, budgetary reviews, capital expenditures, inventory management and other business functions, providing commentary to management
? Implement, document and test the commercial banking internal control environment in accordance with the firm's risk control framework
? Manage relationships with commercial banking accountants, auditors, regulators, managers and controllers, responding to external auditor inquiries as required
? Work with customers on investment issues as required
? Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
? Maintain and communicate an awareness of trends and changes in the accounting and finance fields including regulatory guidelines and requirements
? Supervise accounting specialists, conduct performance reviews and recommend hire/fire and salary actions
? Special projects as required

Qualifications:
? 5 years related accounting or financial management experience, including specific commercial banking and investment accounting experience
? Graduation from accredited 4-year college or university leading to a degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field
? CPA a plus
? Call reporting, SEC reporting, and SOP 03-3 experience required
? Understanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements including FDIC Call Reports and financial reporting including 10Q and 10K
? Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
? Ability to multi-task, coordinate multiple responsibilities within tight deadlines, and work long hours when required
? Experience working long hours in a high pressure environment that requires attention to detail
? Experience in bank-specific computer applications such as Bankway and Jack Henry
? Knowledge of applications in Microsoft Excel including macros, pivot tables, etc., Microsoft Word and Power Point
? Strong organizational skills
? Strong analytical and problem solving skills
? Excellent oral and written skills
