Founded by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2002, After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA) is a leading after-school program provider whose programs educate, enlighten and inspire thousands of K-12 students each day. Activities are centered around health, fitness and nutrition; the visual and performing arts; and youth leadership and community service learning.
In partnership with the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District, Montebello School District, and charter school organizations, ASAS-LA brings innovative, cutting-edge enrichment programs that contribute to reducing drug use, crime and violence; while increasing the safety of students in the after school hours. The organization serves over 5,000 students daily at 36 schools located in at-risk areas throughout LA County, which include: 25 middle schools, five high schools and six elementary schools. In the 2010-2011 school year, ASAS-LA served 10,000 students.
Kobe Bryant is an ASAS-LA Program Ambassador.
ASAS-LA is part of the national After-School All-Stars, which provides after school programs in 12 cities, serving over 81,000 students.

- KINDER THRU 2ND GRADE SPECIALISTS: have experience working with K-2nd and the capabilities of teaching multiple classes especially Arts and Crafts
- DANCE
- CHEER
- SPORTS: knowledge and experience in Football, Basketball and Soccer
- ARTS AND CRAFTS
- COOKING
- THEATER/PERFORMING ARTS
- ART: drawing, painting, murals, etc.
- SCIENCE: fun, hands-on experiments for kids
- LEADERSHIP: can teach students how to be leaders in their schools and communities
SCHOOLS LOCATED IN BOYLE HEIGHTS, SOUTH LA, MONTEBELLO, INGLEWOOD, COMMERCE AND MARINA DEL REY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct and manage 20 students within a classroom setting.
- Provide homework/academic assistance and curriculum instruction.
- Share and teach talent and/or hobby to students for 6 to 8 week sessions.
- Support the vision and goals of the organization.
- Work cooperatively with site team in creating a safe, fun and supportive environment for students served in after school program.
- Participate in on-going trainings, workshops and professional development opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma (prefer some college education but is not required)
- Excellent interaction skills with children, including classroom and behavior management.
- Positive interpersonal and highly effective time management skills.
- Flexibility and ability to "think on your feet".
- Highly energetic and active, as well as creative and resourceful.
- Available to work some evenings and weekends.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus!
HOURS:
- 15-20 Hours/Week (varies by school/site)
- You must be able to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 to 6:00 (hours vary by school/site)
- Some substitute positions available for those unable to work all 5 days.
PAY RATE:
- Starts at $10-$12/hour

Below is a description of the the 2 Photographer/Teachers we just hired for this month ..... Please let us know if you are interested in teaching the May Classes
1) The TEST SHOOT........ Jerry Avenaim is teaching this workshop next month on the 4th of March. We will need a new instructor for the May class. This is an all day class from 10am - 5pm working on all the aspects of a shoot day. The class will go over different lighting setups inside and outside, working with stylists, hair and makeup.
2) Business of Photography/Portfolio Review -- March 3rd 2012
Dove Shore will teach you the A-Z of the business in a day ! Megan Luke and Rick Callahan the owners of Copious Management one of the most successful photography agencies will review your portfolios and go over the proactive ways of obtaining you work, because that is the goal ! More work = more fun !!
