Job Responsibilities:
* Work Hours: Monday-Friday 3-6 pm
* Primary: Provide homework help, check for corrections and ensuring assignments are completed.

Little Looker Academia seeks a teacher who truly loves teaching. We need you to be ready to share your enthusiasm about curiosity and learning. You are a certified tutor, with prior experience working with gifted students, studying 4th, 5th and 6th grade curriculum (all subjects) who will continue our daughter's (8) accelerated education program. She has recently had a comprehensive IQ Assessment which has given us a much better understanding of her strengths and stretches; the areas we would like to challenge her and the areas we plan to give her more support.

We have been practicing attachment/non-violent parenting. We are looking for someone with a progressive background, who is totally comfortable setting clear, consistent limits in a respectful way. We do not use shame to control behavior and our daughter does not have "behavioral issues". We have found that the home school environment tends to have a casual feeling that sometimes needs firm redirecting, so that she can stay focused. That said, we are currently working on securing a separate "school room" out of our home to create an environment that feels more like a traditional school. Primarily, we feel she will focus most easily when she is working with a tutor that has real love and enthusiasm for teaching along with an understanding of where she is developmentally.

We are members of several home school groups and participate in many organized group activities to supplement the one on one experience. You must have teaching certification at the appropriate grade levels, CPR training and have your own reliable, insured vehicle to facilitate field trips and travel to group activities. We provide all supplies requested (within reason) and are teacher/members at Lakeshore Learning Center. We also subscribe to an online curriculum service (Time4Learning) for additional guidance.

The position will require 30 to 36 hours per week, which includes some paid class development time (non-student time). Payment will be made biweekly, with taxes withheld, starting at $20 per hour with increases in pay dependent on performance. After a three month probationary period to ensure a good fit, Paid Personal Leave is accrued based on the number of hours worked weekly. We take an 8 to 10 week summer break, a two week winter break and a one week late spring break each year and will discuss job longevity during the interview process. Teacher assistants are given the opportunity to provide direct instruction as well as assist the teacher in the classroom and provide one to one assistance to specific students. Each classroom has two assistants with strong administrative support. Additional support is provided by our counseling and behavior staff. A positive team approach is used throughout the school. In addition teacher assistants help with transportation, driving students to and from school.

Position is full time. A Bachelor's degree, clean driving record, TB and fingerprint clearance are required. Special Education experience is preferred. Interest in entering a traditional or internship credential program is desirable.
